The East Hants Sportsplex as it exists today is the result of over 75 years of hard work and dedication by volunteer members of the East Hants Arena Association (EHAA).
Formed in the mid 1940’s, the EHAA first built and managed the Lantz Arena (fondly remembered as the “East Hants Barn”) which opened in 1948. The well-used Lantz Arena was replaced by the East Hants Sportsplex in 1993.
A growing regional population and increased facility demand necessitated the renovation and expansion of the Sportsplex. EHAA struck a specialized Expansion Committee to oversee the project, which was completed in 2012 and saw the facility grow from 42,370 square feet to more than 166,000. The expansion included a second ice surface, indoor field house with a walking and running track, two multi-purpose rooms with a reception area and dressing rooms.
After EHAA faced challenges from increased operating costs and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Municipality of East Hants purchased the Sportsplex from EHAA in 2021 and began operating the facility in May 2024.
The East Hants Sportsplex continues to be one of the most in-demand facilities in the region. Its success is owed to the dedicated EHAA volunteers who had the foresight and determination to make it a reality for their community. The Municipality of East Hants is committed to continuing their legacy and thanks them all for their years of service!
Children under the age of 12 years old must have a responsible person of at least 16 years old in the facility at all times.
The East Hants Sportsplex is home to many organizations sport programming and leagues.
