On October 23, 2019, Council approved the Recreation Services Master Plan. This plan will guide Municipal staff and Council over the next five years for decision making on recreation services within East Hants.

Through community outreach and collaboration, this Recreation Services Master Plan will guide and support future recreation goals and opportunities to ensure that all residents of East Hants can continue to enjoy an active and engaged lifestyle.

On November 29, 2017, Council approved the Parks, Open Space and Active Transportation Master Plan.

This plan provides a framework for decision-making about East Hants’ open spaces, parks, and active transportation network for the next 20 years.

The Master Plan was created after consultation with the public and addresses our community’s needs and desires, future demographic changes and emerging trends in recreation. It directs land use, community design and development in a manner consistent with the interests and needs of the community

On November 27^th, 2019, East Hants Council approved the East Hants Tourism Strategy. East Hants is home to the world’s highest recorded tides, incredible river adventures, historic properties and museums, idyllic scenery, and a creative community providing artisans and performers a venue and a voice.

This document will guide and support future decision-making around tourism goals and opportunities to ensure that all residents of East Hants can benefit from a vibrant tourism industry.

On March 30, 2022, Council approved the East Hants Playground Development Strategy. This strategy provides the Municipality with a road map on how to achieve playgrounds that provide engaging and energetic play for as many children as possible.

On March 30, 2022, East Hants Council approved the Diversity & Inclusion Strategy.

The strategy is designed to assist Parks Recreation & Culture in creating a diverse and inclusive environment for programs and services to our residents. This strategy identifies guiding principles, objectives and examples of initiatives.

By removing barriers and utilizing the views of others, residents of East Hants can develop a strong level of physical literacy and social well-being. The long-term benefits of recreation and leisure activities will situate East Hants as a leader for diversity and inclusion.
