Official 2024 Candidates

The following residents of the Municipality of the District of East Hants have been officially nominated in the 2024 Municipal Election and will appear on the 2024 ballot. Nominations are no longer being accepted for the 2024 Election.

Voting will only take place in Districts 3, 5, 10 and 11. Candidates for all other districts and the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial have been acclaimed and will not require voting.

 

The following districts have been acclaimed and will not require a vote. If you are in any of these districts you will not receive a Voter Information Letters in the mail.

Every 8 years, a review of municipal electoral districts must be done. East Hants reviewed and established new districts based on geography, community interests and ensuring all districts have a similar number of voters. There are still 11 districts. These new districts will be in place on October 19, 2024.

Past Election Results

The Municipality of East Hants held a Special Election for District 4 – Shubenacadie, on July 23, 2022, to fill a vacant position on Council after the resignation of Councillor Ian Knockwood in April, 2022.

Two candidates ran in this election, with the following results:

CARL MACPHEE – 168,
KENDALENE (BO) WAMBOLT – 129

Carl MacPhee is a lifelong resident of East Hants. He graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Science and had a 44-year career with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

This election was held electronically by the Municipality of East Hants, offering voting by telephone and internet. Voter turnout for the election was 15.3%. All candidates and voters are thanked for their involvement in this special election.

The official results for the 2021 Special Election for District 7 – Lantz/Milford are listed below.

Voter turnout for the election was 42.1%.
