East Hants is working on a business plan for a proposed fixed-route transit service in the community. This project is scheduled for completion in 2024-25.
About
This project will outline the business plan for a proposed fixed route public transit service in East Hants. A transit service would meet the strategic objectives of supporting the community’s workforce mobility, community accessibility, environmental stewardship and economic prosperity.
Background
The concept of a fixed route transit service has been built on a progressive series of studies, each adding greater refinement to the concept, leading to the creation of a business plan. Those studies are:
- Corridor Transit Feasibility Study (2012)
- Transit Services Business Plan for East Hants (2015)
- Transit Services Business Plan 2020 Update (2020)
There have been several changes since the 2020 Update that require additional study before proposing the implementation of a public transit service. Those changes, which include population distribution and growth, roadway network layout, financial analysis, emerging technologies in transit will be explored and described in a 2024 Updated Study.
