The East Hants Official Community Plan directs land use, development and community design. These documents – the Municipal Planning Strategy, the Land Use Bylaw and the Subdivision Bylaw – determine how East Hants will grow and change. The Plan determines the quality of life and the quality of place in East Hants.
The Official Community Plan was last comprehensively reviewed in 2016. Amendments and edits have taken place since then, but as East Hants has grown and changed new land use issues have arisen. The Community Plan needs to be reviewed and revised to address these issues.
Community visioning enables the members of a community to envision the overall future of their community. It allows residents to have a voice in what their community looks like and what their goals and objectives are for their community.
After the visioning process is complete, the community engagement feedback will be reviewed, and a vision statement will be created. Planning staff will take the community’s vision and use it as guiding principles in creating land use planning policies and regulations that will guide growth into the future.
East Hants residents are invited to share their thoughts by completing two new online surveys: an Information Survey and a Visual Preference
Survey.
Survey results will be combined with feedback from public visioning meetings and shared with the Planning Advisory Committee in a “What We Heard” report.
Share your thoughts and ideas on how land should be used and developed in the future of East Hants.
